Schedule
Where Can I Find Your Swim Schedule?
Our website, online swim schedule, reflects our most up-to-date swim schedule and only displays classes with space available for enrollment. We offer Swim Lessons seven days a week to make swimming a convenient and consistent part of your Student’s routine.
What If I Can’t Find A Swim Time Online That Works With My Family’s Schedule?
We try our best to offer swim lessons to accommodate families with busy schedules. If you can’t find a time that works with your family, please give us a call at (630) 692-7946 for our Illinois locations, (513) 285-8855 for our Ohio locations, and (502) 438-8833 for our Kentucky locations and we will work with you to find a swim time that meets your family’s needs.
Can My Student Swim More Than One Time Per Week?
Yes! Repetition is the key to learning how to swim. Swimming more often will increase the momentum of your Student’s Skill development.
If I Have More Than One Student, Can My Students Swim At The Same Time?
We try our best to accommodate families with more than one Student. We offer a variety of classes for different ages and abilities to facilitate easier family scheduling.
What If My Student Needs To Change Classes?
Our Front Desk Team can assist with any class changes and we will do our best to accommodate the on-going scheduling needs of your family. When your Student graduates, we will happily assist you in finding a new Swim Level class for your Student. If you would like to change classes to better suit the needs of your Student for a specific Swim Teacher, day, or time, we will work with you to find the best class for your Student.
What If My Student Transfers To A Different Day And Receives An Extra Swim Lesson?
If a transfer of Swim Lesson results in an extra Swim Lesson, a fee will be charged for the additional Swim Lesson.
Will My Student’s Swim Teacher Change?
While we strive to provide consistent Swim Teachers week-to-week while maintaining the highest standards of teaching excellence, sometimes a Swim Teacher may need to change their schedule. New Swim Teachers can be a good thing. Even when an existing Swim Teacher is well liked, different Swim Teachers see different elements and may have the ability to challenge your Student in a new way. Sometimes staying with a specific Swim Teacher may create a dependency, which may prohibit the Student from swimming successfully without their favorite Swim Teacher. Providing a diverse Swim Lesson experience will help Students adjust to unforeseen challenges. In addition, family scheduling can be easier for Parents when the Student is not tied to one specific Swim Teacher.
Program
How Long Are Your Sessions?
We do not have sessions; we are a month-to-month year-round Swim School. This means you can enroll for a day and time that works best for you. This is your reserved day and time until your Student moves up a Swim Level, needs to take a break, or your schedule changes.
How Long Are The Swim Lessons?
Each Swim Lesson is 30 minutes in length.
How Many Students Are In Each Class?
Student to Teacher ratios for Non-Parent participation classes are 3:1 and 4:1. Student to Teacher ratios for Parent participation classes are 5:1 and 4:1.
How Long Will It Take My Student To Learn How To Swim?
This is one of the most popular questions Parents ask. Every Student is unique with varying swimming ability. There is no set time it will take a Student to learn how to swim. At Bear Paddle, we believe swimming consistently and frequently are the keys to swimming success.
Do You Offer Private, Semi-private, Or Special Needs Classes?
Yes, if you would like to schedule a private, semi-private, or special needs class, please call us at (630) 692-7946 for our Illinois locations, (513) 285-8855 for our Ohio locations, and (502) 438-8833 for our Kentucky locations.
Student Progress
What Happens If My Student Is Ready To Move Up A Swim Level?
If your Student is ready to move up a Swim Level due to a change in age or ability, we will work with you to find a new class that fits your schedule.
How Do I Know If My Student Is Ready To Move Up?
When a Student is ready to advance to the next Swim Level, the Deck Manager will alert you and your Student. The Deck Manager will also award your Student with Skill Patches.
Where Do I Go If I Want To Ask How My Student Is Progressing In Their Class?
The Deck Manager is present on the Pool Deck and evaluates each Student during each class. The Deck Manager is ready to provide updates on the progress of each Student. The Deck Manager is always available to answer any questions regarding our program, policies, or Student progress. The Deck Manager also gives Students their earned Skill Patches and will communicate when the Student is ready to move up to the next level!
My Student Got Patches Right Away In Level 1 Through Level 3 But It Is Taking Longer In Level 4, Why Is That?
Most Students tend to earn Skill Patches and graduate the beginner levels more quickly than the upper levels. Students may earn multiple Skill Patches at one time or gradually over an extended period of time. Don’t be discouraged! Talk to your Deck Manager to see what your Student needs to focus on. Adding an additional swim day or a Swim Camp also can speed up your Student’s progress.
Facility, Safety & Closings
What Are The Benefits Of A Saltwater Pool?
Saltwater ensures your Student will experience clean water and air that is gentler to skin, eyes, and lungs.
What Are Some Of Bear Paddle’s Safety Rules?
Please ensure Students are safe while at Bear Paddle. Please do not enter the pool prior to the Swim Teacher’s arrival to class. Please help us keep Students from running on the Pool Deck.
When Are Bear Paddle’s Scheduled Closings?
Bear Paddle will be closed on the following days: Easter Break, Memorial Break, Summer Break, Labor Day Break, Thanksgiving Break, and Winter Break. You will not be charged for Swim Lessons if your Student swims during these times.
What Will Happen In The Event Of A Pool Closure (Bathroom Incident, Power Outage, or Weather)?
If we must close the pool for any of the above reasons, each Student will be given a Make-Up lesson. Please be patient while Management assesses all situations. Some power outages are temporary and Swim Lessons can be completed. For severe weather, the management team will direct everyone to the changing area. Since our pools are grounded and we do not have an outdoor pool, we are able to continue with Swim Lessons during most severe weather.

What Should I Expect On My First Day?
We will ensure your Student is in the right Swim Level. Both the Swim Teacher and Deck Manager will work together to ensure each Student’s Skill Level meets the expectations of each class. If you feel your Student has not been assessed accurately or is in the wrong Swim Level, please notify the Deck Manager.

How Can I Make Sure My Student Doesn’t Go To The Bathroom In The Pool?

In the event your Student misses a Swim Lesson, they can Make-Up one missed Swim Lesson per month. Please notify us if your Student is unable to attend their Swim Lesson via email or phone. Make-Up Lessons can be scheduled up to one week in advance after the missed Swim Lesson. If a Student misses multiple Swim Lessons in one month, they will be eligible to Make-Up one Swim Lesson unless a doctor’s note is provided. Families will not be charged for lessons that fall on Scheduled Bear Paddle Closures. In the event of an Unexpected Bear Paddle Closure, your Student will receive a Make-Up Lesson.
