How Do I Register For Swim Lessons?

Registration is easy! You can view our swim schedule and register online, or by calling your local Bear Paddle location.

How Do I Know Which Swim Level Is Best For My Student?

We have designed our curriculum by age and ability. If you are unsure what Swim Level to register your Student in, we welcome you to take an online Swim Assessment or schedule a free in-person Swim Assessment by calling your local Bear Paddle location.

How Do I Pay For Swim Lessons?

Swim Lesson fees are charged per lesson per month on the first day of each month. Swim Lesson prices include one 30-minute lesson per week. Families will not be charged for their first Swim Lesson until the start date is confirmed. Fees may be pro-rated based on your first or last day of Swim Lessons and Scheduled Bear Paddle Closures. Scheduled Bear Paddle Closures are defined as pre-planned dates Bear Paddle is closed. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, cash, or check. Cash or check payments must be submitted to the Front Desk prior to the first of the month and may require a deposit. All swim lesson payments must be received by the 7th day of the month to avoid late fees.

Do You Have Late Fees?

Yes, swim lesson payments must be received by the 7th day of every month. A late fee of $10 per family will be applied if payment is received after the 7th day of the month. A late fee of $25 per family will be applied if payment is received after the 15th of the month. This late fee charge is meant to help our front desk team focus on providing you with the best support and customer care!

Do You Have Enrollment Fees?

Bear Paddle charges a $25 enrollment fee for new families and a $15 re-enrollment fee for all families. Transferring classes does not result in an enrollment fee.

Schedule

Where Can I Find Your Swim Schedule?

Our online swim schedule reflects our most up-to-date swim schedule and only displays classes with space available for enrollment.

What If I Can’t Find A Swim Time Online That Works With My Family’s Schedule?

We try our best to offer swim lessons to accommodate families with busy schedules. If you can’t find a time that works with your family, please give us a call at your local Bear Paddle location.

Can My Student Swim More Than One Time Per Week?

Yes! Repetition is the key to learning how to swim. Swimming more often will increase the momentum of your Student’s Skill development.

If I Have More Than One Student, Can My Students Swim At The Same Time?

We try our best to accommodate families with more than one Student. We offer a variety of classes for different ages and abilities to facilitate easier family scheduling.

What If My Student Needs To Change Classes?

All swim schedule changes must be completed by the 7th of every month. We no longer will accept swim schedule changes after the 7th of the month. Please Note: this does not include Student’s moving up in a level during the month. In an effort to provide a more consistent lesson for your swimmer all month long we have determined that new swimmers entering mid month tend to create a learning curve for the entire class. It takes time for a new Student to bond with their new teacher and it can distract or detract from the other Students already within the class. We are working to provide a better, more consistent lesson for your Student every day! Our Front Desk Team can assist with any class changes and we will do our best to accommodate the on-going scheduling needs of your family. If you would like to change classes to better suit the needs of your Student for a specific Swim Teacher, day, or time, please contact us during the first week of every month and we will work with you to find the best class for your Student.

What If My Student Transfers To A Different Day And Receives An Extra Swim Lesson?

If a transfer of Swim Lesson results in an extra Swim Lesson, a fee will be charged for the additional Swim Lesson.

Will My Student’s Swim Teacher Change?

While we strive to provide consistent Swim Teachers week-to-week while maintaining the highest standards of teaching excellence, sometimes a Swim Teacher may need to change their schedule. New Swim Teachers can be a good thing. Even when an existing Swim Teacher is well liked, different Swim Teachers see different elements and may have the ability to challenge your Student in a new way. Sometimes staying with a specific Swim Teacher may create a dependency, which may prohibit the Student from swimming successfully without their favorite Swim Teacher. Providing a diverse Swim Lesson experience will help Students adjust to unforeseen challenges. In addition, family scheduling can be easier for Parents when the Student is not tied to one specific Swim Teacher.

What Happens If My Student Is Ready To Move Up A Swim Level?

If your Student is ready to move up a Swim Level due to a change in age or ability, we will work with you to find a new class that fits your schedule.

How Do I Know If My Student Is Ready To Move Up?

When a Student is ready to advance to the next Swim Level, the Deck Specialist will alert you and your Student. The Deck Specialist will also award your Student with Skill Patches.

Where Do I Go If I Want To Ask How My Student Is Progressing In Their Class?

Who knows your Student’s progress better than their teacher? Please feel free to approach your teacher and ask them how your Student is doing! Your Student’s teacher will also be able to provide you with on-the-spot progress updates, homework tips you can work on at home, and suggest ways for your Student to progress faster! We want you and your swimmer to know what has been worked on and what will be the focus over the next few lessons. This will help keep everyone on the same swimming page! The Manager on Duty will always be on the pool deck to assist you at any time as well as alert you when your Student earned a patch or moved up a level! The Manager on Duty is also present on the Pool Deck during each class and is ready to provide updates on the progress of each Student. The Manager on Duty is always available to answer any questions regarding our program, policies, or Student progress. The Manager on Duty also gives Students their earned Skill Patches and will communicate when the Student is ready to move up to the next level!

My Student Got Patches Right Away In Level 1 Through Level 3 But It Is Taking Longer In Level 4, Why Is That?

Most Students tend to earn Skill Patches and graduate the beginner levels more quickly than the upper levels. Students may earn multiple Skill Patches at one time or gradually over an extended period of time. Don’t be discouraged! Talk to your Deck Specialist to see what your Student needs to focus on. Adding an additional swim day or a Swim Camp also can speed up your Student’s progress.

Facility, Safety & Closings

What Are The Benefits Of A Saltwater Pool?

Saltwater ensures your Student will experience clean water and air that is gentler to skin, eyes, and lungs.

When Are Bear Paddle’s Scheduled Closings?

Bear Paddle will be closed on the following days: Easter Break, Memorial Break, Summer Break, Labor Day Break, Thanksgiving Break, and Winter Break. You will not be charged for Swim Lessons if your Student swims during these times.

What Will Happen In The Event Of A Pool Closure (Bathroom Incident, Power Outage, or Weather)?

If we must close the pool for any of the above reasons, each Student will be given a Make-Up lesson. Please be patient while Management assesses all situations. Some power outages are temporary and Swim Lessons can be completed. For severe weather, the management team will direct everyone to the changing area. Since our pools are grounded and we do not have an outdoor pool, we are able to continue with Swim Lessons during most severe weather. In the event of an emergency closing, our team will reach out to all affected families immediately via phone, email, and social media.

First Day

What Does My Student Need To Bring To Swim Lessons?

All Students will need to bring a swimsuit and a towel. All of our Students under the age of three are also required to wear a disposable and a reusable swim diaper. Our Pool Deck has all the necessary teaching tools for your Student to use during their Swim Lesson, however, your Student may bring their own goggles.

What Should I Expect On My First Day?

We will ensure your Student is in the right Swim Level. Both the Swim Teacher and Deck Specialist will work together to ensure each Student’s Skill Level meets the expectations of each class. If you feel your Student has not been assessed accurately or is in the wrong Swim Level, please notify the Deck Specialist.

When Can My Student Start?

Start today! We are an open-enrollment Swim School, which means you can start anytime. View our swim schedule and register online.

Also, if your Student is under the age of three or is not potty trained, please ensure you have a disposable and a reusable swim diaper on them during Swim Lessons.

What If My Student Misses A Swim Lesson?

Make-Up Lessons can be scheduled up to one week in advance after the missed Swim Lesson. If a Student misses multiple Swim Lessons in one month, they will be eligible to Make-Up one Swim Lesson unless a doctor’s note is provided. Families will not be charged for lessons that fall on Scheduled Bear Paddle Closures. In the event of an Unexpected Bear Paddle Closure, your Student will receive a Make-Up Lesson.
