Welcome to Bear Paddle, your local swim school in Lake in the Hills, Illinois.

Bear Paddle Swim School is a month-to-month year-round swim school offering 30-minute swim lessons for kids in Lake in the Hills, Illinois.

Personalized Swim Lessons

Bear Paddle accepts enrollees with different skill levels. We take in absolute beginners and advanced students who are already comfortable in the water.

Each swimming lesson lasts for 30 minutes, where your child will learn from our trained swimming instructors. These lessons are also divided into four categories:

  • Private swimming lessons – your child will be paired with a professional coach for one-on-one swimming lessons.
  • Semi-private – your child will have a swim buddy where they will both learn from our expert coaches. This has been quite popular as it enhances your child’s social skills and develops a healthy competition for both students.
  • Group lessons – your child will join with other kids with the same skill level.
  • Family lessons – you’ll join your child in the pool for some family lessons and bonding. This option is available for active swimmers only.

Safe, Kid-Friendly Facility

One of the benefits of enrolling at Bear Paddle is receiving access to our safe and top-of-the-line facility. Our maintenance staff is always vigilant in cleaning and disinfecting areas that are frequently used. That goes from sinks and door handles to bathrooms and our pools.

We also follow the CDC’s (Center for Disease and Control) guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Here are our facility’s safety measures:

  • Disinfect areas that are regularly used like the restroom
  • Conduct water chemistry tests every 30 minutes
  • Strict mask mandate for everyone in the facility
  • Free hand sanitizers for students
  • Prohibiting kids from entering the pool without the presence of an instructor
  • Requiring parents to remain in the facility. No drop-offs.

Story-based Learning

Similar to our other branches, our swimming school at Lake in the Hills, Illinois, uses story-based learning. These lessons are structured to create fun and engaging swimming lessons for kids. In turn, our students respond extremely well to our swim lessons as boredom and mindless repetition are eliminated.

Before your child begins his or her swimming lessons, our instructors will first conduct a skill assessment. We will determine and structure their progression based on their current skill level. Students will also earn up to 26 patches as they progress to give them a sense of accomplishment. And when all 26 patches have been collected, they will be ready for graduation.

Lake in the Hills families love us!

We love going to Bear Paddle. Instructor Marissa M. Is Amazing! My daughter wouldn't even go near water, Instructor Marissa worked with Mila and now she's on level 2. This is a big win for us. It's a group effort between us our kids and the instructors. Thank you Marissa & Bear Paddle!

Definitely an upgrade from the place I left. Instructors are way more hands on and are more knowledgeable with constructive feedback.

My son had taken swim lessons prior to swimming at Bear Paddle but those lessons were nothing compared to the experience he gets at Bear Paddle. He has made so much progress over such a short period of time. The teachers are truly dedicated. When we come for family swim (which is included free with his lessons) the teachers are engaging, even outside of lessons. The facility is clean and always filled with smiling faces. My son loves coming to Bear Paddle, he always has so much fun.

Swimming Lesson FAQs

If you have concerns regarding our lessons, schedules, or health protocols, here are some FAQs we compiled for your assurance:
Yes, we ensure that you and your child are safe during each session. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a statement that it’s safe to swim since the virus cannot spread properly in chlorinated pool water. Above the water, we make sure to enforce physical distancing and healthy and safety measures that exceed the CDC’s health standards.
Our maintenance and cleaning team regularly disinfects each location, including but not limited to door handles, tables, floors, benches, sinks, fixtures, toilets, and diaper changing stations. Besides, our caretakers clean the shower stalls and changing stations after each use. We also provide hand sanitizers for all of our students. Our chlorinated water and ultraviolet filtration system offer complete protection for our customers and employees.

We have a new scheduling system to ensure that less than 50 people are inside our Bear Paddle locations at any given time.

Bear Paddle tests the water chemistry of pools before, during, and after every 30-minute shift. This way, we can guarantee compliance with CDC’s guidelines. In terms of disinfection, we use chlorinated water and ultraviolet light to kill 99.99% of disease-causing bacteria and viruses. Moreover, most of our pools utilize Defender Filtration systems powered with Diatomaceous Earth (DE) media. Due to these filters, we can remove particles up to one micron. For better understanding, red blood cells are approximately 5 microns, so our disinfection systems provide a safe swimming experience for you and your family.

Our Lake in the Hills, Illinois swimming school accepts enrollees as young as six months old. The program they’ll receive is the beginner sequence involving the Teddy Paddle and Teddy Float techniques. Your child is going to be assisted with a floatation device throughout the program.
